Inspired by the shifting colours and quiet rhythm of the African landscape, Safari in Clay & Light explores the place where earth and atmosphere meet. Built through many layers of paint, expressive mark-making and sculptural texture, the surface catches changing light throughout the day, revealing new depth and subtle details with every passing hour.
Natural earth pigments are woven into the painting, grounding it in the very landscape that inspired it. Soft sage greens, warm clay tones and luminous neutrals create a sense of calm while retaining an unmistakable energy and movement.
Part of my Clay & Light collection, this work reflects my ongoing fascination with translating the textures, warmth and light of Africa into contemporary abstract form. Framed in solid oak, it is designed to bring a quiet sense of place, depth and permanence to an interior.
Will it suit my space?
This work measures 104 × 125 cm. As a guide, a piece should fill roughly two-thirds of the wall width above a couch or console. Tape the outline on your wall with masking tape to feel the scale — and if you'd like help, send Hayley a photo of your space and she'll gladly advise.
