Inspired by the layered canopies found across the African landscape, Ember Canopy explores the meeting of light, foliage and earth. Sculptural botanical forms sweep across the canvas, gathering into a rich tapestry of movement against glowing ember, ochre and terracotta tones that echo the warmth of late afternoon.
Every leaf is individually built by hand using richly textured mixed media, creating a surface that responds to changing light throughout the day. Highlights skim across the raised forms while deeper shadows settle into the valleys between them, giving the work a continually shifting sense of depth and dimension.
Rather than describing a single place, Ember Canopy captures the feeling of standing beneath a dense canopy where filtered light dances through the leaves. It is a statement piece that brings warmth, texture and quiet sophistication to contemporary interiors.
